Mission

The Library is committed to supporting Lincoln University’s mission is to provide access to relevant and representative information resources that will enhance the university’s curriculum, promote scholarship, and support the overall learning experience of Lincoln University students. The library aims to be a central, positive and impactful part of each student’s experience.

Fall & Spring
Monday-Thursday:  9 am – 7 pm
Friday: 9 am – 4 pm
Saturday: 9 am – 5 pm
Sunday: Closed

Summer
Monday-Thursday:  9 am – 7 pm
Friday: 9 am – 4 pm
Saturday-Sunday: Closed

The Library is closed during recesses and on national holidays. Please return books and DVDs on or before the last day of class.

Access

Only registered users may borrow materials from the library—this includes current Lincoln University students, faculty and staff. To create an account, ask the library staff for a Library Account Application Form. (eventually, would like this to be either an online form or a downloadable pdf form)

Borrowing/Renewing

Length for Borrowing
The amount of time a user may borrow an item depends on the demand, number of copies and type of material. In most cases:

• Regular Books = 7 or 21 days
• Videos /DVDs = 7 Days
• Reserve Materials = 2 hours
• Theses/Internship Papers = 7 days (duplicate copies only)

Renewing
Materials may be renewed unless another user has placed it on hold. Most materials may be renewed three times before it is necessary to return the items to the library. DVDs may only be renewed one time per checkout. Renewals may be done via phone (510) 628-8011 or email to library@lincolnuca.edu.

On Hold
Materials may be placed on hold via phone (510) 628-8011 or email to library@lincolnuca.edu.

Overdue Fines
It is borrower’s responsibility to be aware of due dates for library materials, and to return them on time. If items are overdue, fines will accrue at the following rates:

• 7 and 21 day Items = $.10 per day
• 2 hour Reserve Items = $.25 per 30 minutes
• Recalled Items = $1.00 per day

Lost or Damaged Items
Borrowers are responsible for the replacement cost

Computer Usage

The Library has two computer stations. Priority is given to students doing research and working on class assignments. Students are not allowed to install software. Some web pages are filtered according to the campus-wide computer policy.  There are also over 40 computer stations in the Computer Lab on the 3rd Floor.

Food & Drink

To avoid any damage to library property, food is not permitted and drinks are only permitted in securely-covered containers.

Cell Phone Usage

To help ensure an environment that encourages study and research, we respectfully request that phone calls be kept to a minimal or taken outside of the library when other patrons are present.
